Focused Fear

I have never been one to procrastinate; I’m usually on top of things. However, when it comes to writing my blogs, I seem to have a slight hesitation and a sincere hope that the “press” on the inside will just go away. It doesn’t.

Part of procrastination is "focused fear" and I am keenly aware of the root cause of my procrastination. It’s never easy to place myself in a space of vulnerability to share my thoughts in a public setting. My preference is to live in the comfort of “the background” without drawing attention to myself...BUT the “press” reminds me over and over again that my preference is NOT my assignment!!

So, why are YOU procrastinating? What is the fear, hesitation, or trepidation that is stopping you from the completion of your assignment? What are you supposed to be doing, that you are not doing, because you are afraid or you “just don’t feel like it?”

At some point, you’ll have to -- as my mom would say -- put your flesh under subjection and tell yourself what you’re going to do! Get up and get on with it!

To live abundantly is to stretch beyond your limitations (which are often self-inflicted from personal insecurities) and give yourself the chance to become who you were destined to be. Personal wholeness and total well-being is achieved when you methodically manage your thought life and align corresponding actions with what you need to do to complete your assignment so that you can live richly every day.

Yesterday’s outcome of the Derek Chauvin trial for the murder of George Floyd was a testament to what we can accomplish if we all remain dedicated to our assignment to ensure life, liberty and (racial and social) justice for all.

Continued prayers, renewed peace, and abundant blessings to the family of Mr. George Floyd.
