Hair Bows and Soap Operas

Saturdays were for hair bows and soap operas. My dad’s hair was so thick and curly, and two of my favorite pastimes with him when I was younger were styling his hair and counting pennies that I’d saved up. :-) I can still see him in his white t-shirt sitting in front of the bright bedroom window with the sunlight rushing in. He loved his “soaps”, and I was just tall enough to stand on the bed and style his hair while he watched TV. I used to put hair bows all over his head, and he would just sit there, smile, and tell me how awesome his hair looked! LOL #PricelessMemories

My hero, the late Pastor Clarence Jones

That was my dad, and I was his girl. Today marks 11 years since his purpose was fulfilled on this earth. I am so grateful that God has turned my sorrow to joy, and I don’t experience the “sting of death” when I reflect on the memory of my hero.

While it may not seem like it now, trust me when I tell you that God is able to do the same for you too. His healing power has no boundaries, and there’s no sorrow that He can’t heal -- no matter the circumstance. For you, it may be the loss of a loved one, a relentless sense of regret or unforgiveness, or a strapped mental capacity where peace is nowhere to be found.

Healing is a process that can take a while, and it’s different for everyone. Part of the process is to allow yourself to feel what it is that you feel; you must let it out to let it go. When you’re able, talk it through and ask God for help -- even if all you can say (or think) is “God, help me.” It’s important to know that He hears even the groanings and mumbles that you don’t speak...and He WILL respond to you to meet your needs.

May you experience the power of God’s healing and peace in your life so that there is never any doubt of His ability to show you the way to live richly every day.

Happy heavenly birthday to my daddy, the late Pastor Clarence Jones.
