The Darkest Hour

I love a good inspirational quote or powerful proverb that can say so much in so little words. Throughout my blog posts, I’ll share many with you in hopes that you’ll receive personal revelations that are relevant to your own experience.

I recently read a book called The Alchemist and one of the quotes of the book read, “The darkest hour of night comes just before dawn.” It reminded me of when I experienced a miscarriage during my first pregnancy. Needless to say, I was devastated. I’d lost my father a few years earlier (more to come on this experience in another blog) and I couldn’t believe such a tragedy was happening to me yet again. I can remember the moment when the nurse turned to me and said, “there’s no heartbeat.” As tears filled my eyes, I screamed to the top of my lungs in hopes that the pain would fully release at the same time as my screeching outburst. Interestingly enough, I had no idea that the same night I'd announced my pregnancy to my closest friends is the same night that I'd have to rush to the hospital to learn that I would not be having a baby. It was a very painful experience, both physically and emotionally. I was completely heartbroken and in some ways, I felt a sense of shame.

The Alchemist

Like me, you may have (or are) experienced a deeply troubling situation that left you feeling broken and ashamed. Life has a way of bringing you face-to-face with gut-wrenching encounters, but thankfully, you were born to WIN! I’ve learned that it’s important for you to grieve in the way that you need to grieve and for the time that you need to do so. You need the time to process your emotions without keeping them bottled up inside. BUT, DON’T STAY THERE! With the powerful combination of faith and works, you have been given the authority (and corresponding strategies) to conquer any adverse circumstance, so use it! Your authority (faith and belief in Jesus) and strategies (i.e. prayer, employing the power of your tongue, etc.) will change your life! In some instances, it may not change your circumstance, but at the very least, it’ll change YOU. Personal transformation can be one of the greatest gifts that any experience (good or bad) can give you.

I'm happy to share that at “dawn”, I was able to smile again. After my darkest hour of this situation, “dawn” came for me with the birth of my two precious girls, Jessica Robyn and Jordyn Rose.

Even when it’s dark, never lose hope. Keep holding on and pressing forward, for your “dawn” is soon to come as you strive to live richly every day.
