The Good Book

Have you ever thought about how unbiblical “proverbs” (no pun intended) are often attributed to the Bible as scripture? Isn’t it interesting how people often quote or sing songs that are part of scripture, but they then become watered down clichés that seem to lose their “umph?” Well, I can’t stand it! The Word of God is much too powerful for that foolishness! LOL

I don’t profess to be a Bible scholar, but I know what I know. :-) When you solely focus on

what other people think about the “popular” scriptures and are flooded with other folks’ interpretations, you can miss out on the fresh perspective that God has specifically for you.

I was thinking about a really popular scripture that, in some ways, is often framed as a mundane quote. The Scripture states, “No weapon formed against me shall prosper”...and this is true! So, what about the latter part of that Scripture (Isaiah 54:17) that’s often understated? Do you believe that part too? If you’re not familiar with it, the NKJV says, “...And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn.”

I pondered on this for a while and WHEW!!! Essentially, this means that every foul word that is spoken against you, God will shut it down! His omnipresence assures you that even when you are not present, you can’t hear what’s being said, you don’t know the intents of the heart of men/women, and you have no clue that Suzy smiles in your face and talks behind your back...God knows and he will take care of you! When you trust Him to do what He does, He will not cause you to be put to shame.

In other words, He’s “gotchu!”

So, yes...that’s why “no weapon formed against you shall prosper”, “the battle is not yours, it’s the Lord’s, and you can “hold your peace, and let the Lord fight your battle!” (If you grew up in church, you know all these sayings all too well! LOL)

Personal wholeness and total well-being are multifaceted; they include a healthy spiritual life, which I believe is anchored in Jesus Christ. You’ve been given full access to the gift of Words (the Bible) that were written to illuminate the plan and purpose for your life. So, why not dig a little deeper to gain a greater understanding of the Gift that you’ve been

given? Of course, ALL scripture is good

(despite the ones that people often dilute, misquote, and erroneously interpret. LOL). Now, consider how much more empowered you’ll become if you pressed a little further and read the Word in its fullness, including the portions that people don’t often speak about? God speaks in many ways and there is clarity and deep discovery about you available for you now.

Don’t ever let anyone else shape your relationship with God and His Word. It’s a Book that’s designed to empower you and to give you wisdom to live richly every day.
